December 19th, 2016!

“What can I contribute to my Body today that would be fun and nurturing for it?” I asked myself as I rolled out of bed, pulled on my “outside pants,” a warm down jacket, my ever-trusty neck warmer, and my thick felted mittens. Even a short walk would be fun..even if it is 9 degrees BELOW zero here (“colder than a witches tit” as my father used to say). And so I and my trusty companion, Step, headed out. Our first stop was to be grateful for our neighbor who was plowing our driveway with his snowblower.

How does it get any better than that? And then we turned the corner and headed for the lake. COLD…even with no wind. “Body, would you please turn up the BTUs?” I asked as my forehead began to hurt. Voila! Bodies are AMAZING. Comfort once again. How does it get any better than that? I mean it was so cold that the tear drops in my eyes began to freeze. And so it was just around ONE block that Step and I ventured today…not on our usual 45 minute trek. “So grateful,” my Body said.

Once home and inside where it is so cozy, I planned on going spinning (riding on a stationary bike to exciting music in a group setting – I teach this at the Northwest Athletic Club in Michigan City) with my Tim. First, I asked my Body, “Are you up for spinning today?” “Not so much,” was the reply. That was it…built a fire, and cooled my jets so to speak. How does it get any better than that?

I wonder how the rest of my day will go. I know I won’t make a move without asking my Body. It’s “Be nice to Body Day!”
