Ep. 80: Kate Oelerich “Isolating the Moment”

This week I am joined by Katie Oelerich (and her puppy Al!) who has been a professional photographer, specializing in family portraits, for over 45 years. From a very young age she loved taking pictures, but it was when she was gifted a manual camera for Christmas that her passion grew from a hobby to a career. She took her first general photography class and fell in love with taking portraits. She is now taking pictures of third generation families.

Listen to our delightful conversation where we discuss the dysfunction of family portrait day, how she manages different personalities, and somehow always manages to get “the shot.”

As a member of the Professional Photographers of America, Kate has been a speaker at national conventions, sharing her techniques for creating beautiful environmental portraits. Kate has captured photos from around the USA, as well as images from numerous European, Central American & South African trips.
