Excited to share a powerful episode of “Creating from the Heart: The Artistry of Living” featuring Janice and Kalvon Hawkins. In 2011, tragedy struck when their daughter Nekeisha was murdered. Today, they’ve turned their pain into purpose.
Kalvon, an over-the-road truck driver, and Janice who works in medical records, are raising the world’s children through the Nekeisha Nicole “Monster” Hodges-Hawkins Foundation. Every Tuesday, they host a bowling league for ages 5-16, teaching math, money, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Kalvon, who also mentors at LaPorte High School, is so dedicated that if he’s out of town due to work, he still tunes in virtually.
The couple is currently working on creating a safe space at the Hope Center with an after-school program that will provide tutoring, games, food, and fun. Their goal is to honor Nekeisha’s memory and show kids they can rise above their circumstances.
Join the movement, support the Nekeisha Foundation, and be a part of positive change. Let’s spread love, build communities, and make a difference.
